J.G. Ballard design competition
I just entered the J.G. Ballard design competition in conjuntion with the Times newspaper. The competition was to design a cover for ballard's best selling novel 'Crash'. It was a bit rushed and I was 6 minutes over the deadline but hey I think its alright! Judge for yourself anyway :-)

Momiji Party
Does anyone remember the little vote for Leona image I put up a while back with Napolean Dynamite hugging a momiji doll? It was to try and get people to vote for me in the Don't Panic Momiji doll competition ,they were looking for a designer to dream up a collection of limited edition dolls which will be exclusively available in Selfridges this Christmas.
I didn't have a chance to win because I didn't hussle enough people to vote for me but I was picked as one of the judges favourites, which to me is more important than a load of fake votes! The winner was very well deserved and they're designs were lovely, I was just happy to have my design put on the wall at the party. Also Momiji told me they may use my designs in the future and I can send them any ideas I have for dolls, so it was worth entering after all. So I went to the party on Thursday and had a really good time, there were free drinks and delicious canapes going round all night not to mention I bagged myself some Momiji swag too!

China Now V&A
At the weekend I braved the icy cold winds to visit the V&A exhibition 'China Now'. I was interested mainly by the advertised graphic designers of Shenzen but I found myself much more drawn to the second section of the exhibition featuring fashion and lifestyle. The graphic design was lovely and all but nothing blew me away unlike the photo's of Maleonn a chinese photographer. There's just something so playful and childlike about his work which really appeals to me and also really reminded of scenes from the film 'The Science of Sleep' which has the same sought of aesthetic, if you haven't seen this you really should. I love the romanticism of opting for the unrealistic solution, it really encourages the imagination, enjoy!
